REDEFINING THE IT GWORL.

MEET THE FOUNDER.

Hey Gworl! Im Tou (like the number). Once upon a time, many moons ago I was set out to be the best attorney that ever walked the planet. According to my life plan I should've been freshly out of law school right now however, life had other plans. Mental health has always played a major role in my life primarily because mental health illnesses run in my family. As a child I always wondered “how do mental health issues develop? Why does it feel like only my family is like this? And how can I help support the people I love?”. These questions kept me up at night & drove me to study psychology in high school as well as declare psych as my Major at the illustrious Spelman College. It was there, that I realized my calling was a lot bigger than law school, it was there I realized I had a purpose - but what exactly? I couldn't put my finger on it. That is what I wrecked my brain to figure out. Upon graduating I underwent several life transitions from moving to Boston to work in a male dominated field, to losing one of my best friends, and then losing my grandmother. Through all of the peaks and valleys of my life I learned the beauty in becoming, of things falling apart while simultaneously coming together, I learned that in every experience there is both a  purpose and a lesson. And although I chose to be alone throughout all of my worst moments, I made a vow to myself that I would never allow anyone I loved or cared about to do the same. By sharing my thoughts on grief and life transitions on social media and receiving an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from not only close friends and associates but complete strangers I realized that the calling to be of -support to others was bigger than just my immediate circle. I realized that so many women in their 20-somethings struggle due to the lack of transparency and beautifully packaged bullshit we maintain in our generation. But no more! I created Dope AF to clear the air, to expose the raw & the real, to create a new normal, a new It Gworl, the one that is okay with being in the thick of things. The beauty that’s enjoying the journey as opposed to stressing about making it to the final destination. I hope that this is the first step toward a revolution and Dope AF will be at the forefront!
